SUMMER in Krzyżowa

The Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe warmly invites local residents, tourists, and all culture enthusiasts to take part in a unique series of summer events – "SUMMER in Krzyżowa."
Throughout the holiday season, Krzyżowa and its surroundings will be filled with music, dance, art, creative performances, and international cooperation.

In the picturesque setting of Krzyżowa, young people from across Europe – including Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Greece, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, and Italy – come together to create, learn, and perform. The results of their work will be showcased during many open final events, which – beyond their artistic value – carry a powerful message of community, dialogue, and creative exchange.

We encourage you to stay up to date with all announcements and check the detailed event schedule on our website: www.krzyzowa.pl

With great joy and pride, we announce that the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe has been honored with the prestigious Mayor of Wrocław Award!

The award was received on behalf of the entire Foundation by our Managing Director and Board Member, Dorota Krajdocha, from the hands of the Mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk.

This distinction is a recognition of our long-standing and unwavering commitment to dialogue, reconciliation, and education. We are proud that our work to build bridges of understanding has been acknowledged.

Helmuth Caspar Graf von Moltke Awarded the Cross of Merit on the Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany!

We are delighted to share that on June 23, 2025, Helmuth Caspar Graf von Moltke was awarded the Cross of Merit on the Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany!

The award ceremony, led by the German Consul General Martin Kremer, took place this morning at the headquarters of our Foundation.
This special honor is a recognition of Helmuth Caspar von Moltke’s long-standing dedication to Polish-German dialogue and to preserving the legacy of the Kreisau Circle – a German resistance group against Nazism, founded by his parents, Freya and Helmuth James von Moltke.

As a witness to history, a builder of bridges, and a guardian of memory, Helmuth Caspar von Moltke has spent decades sharing the story, values, and ideals of the Kreisau Circle – especially with younger generations.

We thank everyone who joined us today! It was a day full of emotion, reflection, and hope for the future generations who will continue building bridges of understanding.

“Friends of Krzyżowa” Gathering 2025

At the beginning of June, it was time once again: during the Pentecost weekend, nearly 50 men, women, and children gathered in Krzyżowa for an extended weekend – lasting until Monday.

This has become something of a tradition – these gatherings have been taking place for over 10 years – and each year, both long-time “experts” of Krzyżowa and new faces return to the most renowned village in Lower Silesia. Originally envisioned by educators and meeting organizers as a “weekend without a program,” the combination of structured activities and free time has now become the standard – bringing smiles year after year.

Krzyżowa-Music launches ticket presale!

In its 11th edition, the Krzyżowa-Music Festival will once again present top-level chamber music concerts in Lower Silesia, creating a musical programmatic bridge from West to East – connecting cities such as Vienna, Berlin, Wrocław, Kraków, and Warsaw. From August 26 to September 7, 2025, a total of eleven concerts and two symposia will take place. Internationally acclaimed musicians will focus particularly on the works of Polish composers and pay tribute to two greats: Ravel from Paris and Shostakovich from Moscow. For the first time, tickets will be available for purchase in advance – starting June 20, 2025.

Following the anniversary season in 2024, Krzyżowa-Music embarks on a new decade from August 26 to September 7, 2025, under the continued artistic direction of violinist Viviane Hagner and with the participation of outstanding musicians. Renowned international artists will collaborate with young, talented musicians to prepare 40 pieces from classical and contemporary repertoires. Among the Polish artists featured will be Gustaw Bafeltowski (cello), Adam Golka (piano), Zofia Neugebauer (flute), and Piotr Szumieł (viola) as Senior.

IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARIES

Joint educational activities of the Krzyżowa Foundation and the "Memory and Future" Centre on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

In 2025, we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This is an opportunity not only to celebrate the victory over Nazi Germany, but also to raise the question of what exactly happened in 1945 and why that year did not mark the end of the fighting and the beginning of rebuilding for all of Europe.

Today, as the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine continues into its third year, questions about the causes and long-term consequences of World War II are particularly relevant. The war experiences in Europe have never felt as close to us as they have since February 24, 2022.
