Dr. Andrea Genest

Dr. Andrea Genest, Political scientist and Germanist, is director of the Ravensbrück
Memorial site and deputy director of the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation. She
previously worked at the Memorial sites Auschwitz-Birkenau, German Resistance,
Ravensbrück, Sandbostel, Emergency Reception Center Marienfelde and at the Nazi
Forced Labour Documentation Center as well as at the FU-Berlin and at the Leibniz
Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam. Her research focuses on Polish and German
Contemporary history, questions of remembrance culture and the history of
photography. She wrote her dissertation on the reception of the 1968 anti-Semitic
campaign in Poland.
She is connected with the Kreisau Foundation by the foundation of the "Ost-
westeuropäisches Gedenkstättenseminar" (East-West European Memorial Seminar) and
a long-standing engagement in it as well as by the cooperation in the GAK over many
years.
