Irene Hahn-Fuhr is a board member at Zentrum Liberale Moderne, a non-profit organisation for civic education and international cooperation.

She is motivated by sustainable democratisation as well as cultural and social exchanges of thoughts, which have, in turn, made it her life's mission to pursue social and civic action for European integration and to overcome national stereotypes.

She first visited Krzyżowa as a young student of political science, at the invitation of Agnieszka von Zanthier, shortly before the expansion of the European Union to include the Eastern countries. This took place as part of a visit of the founders, during which, as a representative of the new generation, she discussed the future of the united Europe with the founders and witnesses to history, including Helmuth Caspar von Moltke. That meeting and exchange of ideas deeply moved and shaped her. Since then she has visited Krzyżowa countless times.
