The year 2025 in the Likhtar-Krzyżowa project was a time of intensive effort focused on fostering cooperation between Poland, Germany, and Ukraine. We successfully implemented 13 TRIYOU trilateral youth exchanges, involving hundreds of young people. Participants met in international groups, attended workshops, and engaged with themes of history, identity, and relationships within a culturally diverse environment.
The Likhtar-Krzyżowa network expanded by 12 new partner organizations. This growth meant not only a larger scale of operations but also a need to clarify the rules of cooperation and responsibility. To address this, we developed the "Trilateral Partnership Checklist," which streamlines communication, role distribution, and joint project planning.
As part of the project, we conducted 11 guided tours of Krzyżowa in Ukrainian. This was a vital step in engaging Ukrainian youth with history in their own language. Simultaneously, we developed educational methods to prepare young people for visits to memorial sites—specifically the former concentration camps at Gross-Rosen and Auschwitz-Birkenau—as well as tools to support reflection afterward.
To prepare for this process responsibly, the project team conducted a study visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The goal was to review the program, consult on the content, and refine the methodology before involving participants.
In July, we organized the "Art of Relations" youth event. It provided a space to explore identity, self-expression through art, and non-violent communication. The program also included a mountain expedition, which served as a practical exercise in cooperation, responsibility, and building group trust.
August saw the "Dialogue Amidst Challenges" seminar for youth workers from all three countries. The meeting focused on intercultural dialogue, managing emotions, and responsibly facilitating educational processes related to historical and social topics.
The experiences of 2025 proved that effective trilateral partnerships require clear rules, open communication, and a continuous willingness to learn. This year allowed us to organize our working methods, define roles more precisely, and build more conscious cooperation between partners from the three countries.
We are simultaneously developing new initiatives. We are launching the three-year "Young Leaders" project, aimed at active youth from Poland, Germany, and Ukraine who wish to impact their local communities. The project aims to strengthen leadership skills, social responsibility, and international cooperation.
We also plan to launch a new project dedicated to Ukrainian youth living in both Ukraine and Poland. These activities will focus on identity, building self-confidence, and developing social and communication skills.
Further seminars for teachers and youth leaders are ahead of us, along with school exchanges involving Poland, Germany, and Ukraine.
Likhtar-Krzyżowa is a space for organizations and individuals who want to build responsible Polish-German-Ukrainian partnerships.
