The Krzyżowa Foundation takes part in the "Ways of Remembrance" project, under which young people from Poland, Germany and Russia are looking for the families of former concentration camps prisoners. It is a project carried out in cooperation with the Arolsen Archives, which possess the belongings of former prisoners (mostly from the concentration camps Neuengamme and Dachau), which the Allies secured on the areas of the former camps after 1945 and reached the Archives in the early 1960s.

Willing to help the Arolsen Archives, which set themselves the goal of handing over the personal items to the families of the victims, the young people through the Krzyżowa Foundation ask for help in finding relatives of former concentration camp prisoners.

On 15-19 January, the first part of the French-Polish-German youth exchange on history and migration took place as part of the project 'Remembering together - for creating future'. This project takes the form of a tri-national exchange between Poland, France and Germany, whose main theme is historical education.

Due to the current pandemic situation, this phase of the exchange unfortunately had to take place online, but with different methods such as working with biographies from the museum Friedland as well as its history, language animation, energizer, joint virtual city tours and cooking, a pleasant atmosphere for getting to know each other and discussion could be created.

A meeting of organisers of the Polish-German-French project „Remembering together - for creating future" took place in Göttingen on 13-16 December. The project is a tri-national exchange between Poland, France and Germany, which will focus on historical education. This initiative is the result of cooperation between the Friedland Museum, the International Federation in Göttingen, the Camp des Milles Foundation and the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe.

Ten participants from each of the three countries will meet three times in 2022 and will work together on the central theme of the project „Remembering together - for creating future". The individual meetings will focus on: History and its impact on memory at the local level, as well as the migrations and escapes that have taken place in Europe in the last century up to the present day. These themes are reflected in the activities of the memorial sites in Krzyżowa, Friedland and Les Milles. The aim of the project is to analyse history together from many perspectives and to derive actions for the future from this.

Thanks to an invitation from the Department of Education of the Wrocław City Hall, a meeting with the directors of Wrocław primary schools took place on 9 December at the headquarters of the Wrocław Teacher Training Centre. The aim of the meeting was to present the possibility of implementing the "Schools of Dialogue" programme in schools by the "Krzyżowa" Foundation.

"Schools of Dialogue" is a programme of systematic education for democracy at schools, based on the programme "Schools of Peace" (Vredzamee School) implemented in the Netherlands. It is a structural contribution to the school environment and seeks to integrate knowledge, tools and skills for cooperation, responsibility, conflict resolution and democratic coexistence, respect and appreciation of diversity. It is introduced over 2 years and includes a series of lessons for all classes, training for teachers and parents.
