It has been less than a week since the first families from Ukraine arrived to Krzyżowa. We have spent the past days adapting the centre to the needs of mothers and children and organizing the most necessary things. Thanks to our team's commitment and the support of individuals and organisations, we have equipped two playrooms for children as well as a kitchen and a dining room for our guests to use.

Our goal in the last days was also to prepare an offer for our youngest guests, who constitute half of the nearly 100-person group of refugees in Krzyżowa. The Foundation's team organizes recreational and educational activities for different age groups (from 6 months to 16 years) until they can start their education in nearby schools or kindergartens.

Thanks to volunteers from Ukraine - Yulia and Natalia, mothers of the youngest children can rest every day, from 11.00 to 13.00, and run some errands while they organize preschool activities and animations. At the same time, the older children, together with our other volunteers, play basketball and volleyball and other team games in our sports hall. In the afternoon, the older children can participate in team-building activities and workshops and get to know the surrounding area and Krzyżowa itself. In the evenings, we organise film and fairy-tale shows in Ukrainian in the Palace's cinema room.

Thanks to various initiatives, many children's books in Ukrainian have appeared on the internet, which we also print and give to our playroom so that mothers can read them to their children.

Starting Sunday, a course in basic Polish for adults will be run by Ania from the Ukraine, who speaks fluent Polish. Ultimately, we will be looking for a teacher of Polish as a foreign language.

Our guests feel more and more at ease in Krzyżowa and are trying to plan their nearest future and we are happy to help them.

We would like to thank our partners and friends from Poland, Germany and other countries who have supported us from the beginning and thanks to whom we can organize a shelter for people fleeing war.
