On 24-25 September 2021, the third part of the garden permaculture workshops for multipliers took place. During the classes, the participants learned a number of ways to manage the garden in an ecological way - they learned how to deal with unwanted plants, pests and how to create favorable conditions for our natural garden allies. The workshops also provided knowledge on the construction of various types of flower beds: buried, raised, self-fertilizing "keyhole" beds and permaculture embankments, which were made by the participants in the number of two.
The workshop was the last part of the series of classes conducted by the team that prepared the architectural design of the garden, consisting of representatives of the Plastformers Foundation and the Architecture and Town Planning Office TECLA from Wrocław. The meeting was intergenerational and was an excellent opportunity to share garden experiences. Among the participants were, inter alia, Third Age volunteers of Krzyżowa who successfully motivated their younger colleagues to work actively during the workshops.

On 22 September 2021 - after the summer break - a meeting of the Third Age Volunteers took place as part of the "Food - with tradition into modernity" project. We discussed the progress in building the garden, analyzed the texts written by the Volunteers so far, which will become part of the Internet publication, and planned activities for the coming months.
The most important moment of the meeting was the signing of bricks that will become part of the structures built in the ecological garden. One of the bricks - with the name of the late Władysława Wojcieszak, who has supported the Krzyżowa Foundation activities for many years - we all signed together. Each of these bricks will stay here forever.

On 3 September 2021, our foundation garden team responsible for the implementation of the ecological garden construction project in Krzyżowa had the great pleasure to visit the Arboretum in Wojsławice. A walk around the garden with Mr. Tomasz Dymny, deputy director for the arboretum, who with great passion and cordial hospitality introduced individual parts of the garden, provided us with a lot of inspiration.
We learned about a number of horticultural solutions used in the arboretum for plant cultivation: we found out how the planting quarters are created, what materials are used, for example, in the construction of edgings, what thickness is the mulch used, how many hectares of garden are there for one gardener and much, much more.
A permaculture garden workshop was held on 25-26 June 2021. During the workshop you could learn a lot about how to do things in the garden without doing too much! How to let natural processes do the work instead of us. Among other things, we wondered how the soil can be left undisturbed, and how everything - apart from the weeds - can grow like yeast.
In the workshop we created and layered vegetable patches, talked about growing plants and setting up Guilds (good and bad plant society), made compost tea and hot 18-day compost using the Berkeley method. Tomatoes, cucumbers, beetroot and other greens are all growing for us now!
